The study aims to analyze the strengths of Baden-Württemberg as a research location as well as trends and new topics that are especially interesting for this region. Supported by input from the ZEW Mannheim, Fraunhofer ISI will conduct an evaluation and analysis of the innovation system in Baden-Württemberg from different perspectives based on empirical studies. The focus is on patent searches and bibliometric analyses, supplemented by interviews and document analyses. The objective is to make a general assessment of the performance and competitiveness of Baden-Württemberg, but also to take a differentiated look at selected topics that are special to the region.
