Project

EU market analysis study on copper and lithium technology

The EU Delegation in Chile, in cooperation with the Netherlands Embassy, is conducting a study focused on the lithium and copper value chains in Latin America and the Caribbean. These countries, which have traditionally been commodity exporters, are now aiming to strengthen and expand their value chains. In this project, European companies that are directly or indirectly active in the copper and lithium value chains will be identified.

The existing keywords derived from recommendations of the CEPAL‑commissioned copper and lithium studies are used to generate a search strategy that is applied to three databases (ORBIS, Dun & Bradstreet, PATSTAT). The retrieved data are consolidated and used for mapping at the NUTS‑2 level. In addition, we will provide a list of selected companies including their names, addresses, sectors (NACE), and the country of their headquarters.

We will implement the existing keywords emerging from the recommendations of the copper and the lithium studies commissioned by CEPAL in a search strategy that will be applied to three different databases. The retrieved data will be consolidated and used for a mapping at NUTS2 level. In addition, we will provide a list of selected companies, including their names, addresses, sector (NACE) and country of headquarters location.

The project's results include lists of European companies engaged in activities related to the copper and lithium value chains. These companies are also assigned to their respective positions in the value chain.
