Kick-off EU SOLO Project

The European project Soils for Europe SOLO has been launched. The aim of the project is to provide transdisciplinary roadmaps for the future of soil-related research and activities in the EU, so that the EU Mission goals will be reached by 2030. This requires the co-creation and implementation of a holistic Research and Innovation (R&I) agenda making use of best practices while acknowledging the existing diversity across European regions, nations, and landscapes. Fraunhofer ISI will set up the methodological concept to develop a transdisciplinary and dynamic roadmap that sets the R&I priorities as well as the technical and socio-economic options to reach each of the mission’s specific objectives. SOLO will develop a knowledge and innovation network composed of a wide range of stakeholders working in research and in practice, and on different aspects of soil health. Seventeen institutions all across Europe built the consortium of the five-year project. Dr. Ewa Dönitz from Competence Foresight spoke at the General Meeting on 17-19th of January 2023 about the possibilities to develop the roadmap.
