Dr. Anne Kantel

Researcher

Since October 2021, Dr. Anne J. Kantel has been working as a senior researcher and project manager in the business unit »Actors and Acceptance in the Transformation of the Energy System« of the Department of Energy Policy and Energy Markets at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI.

Her research focuses particularly on energy justice and the social impact of energy and climate policies, especially in the fields of CCUS and green hydrogen technology, and in the residential housing sector. Furthermore, she studies the interactions between social fragmentation and energy transformation processes.

Before that, she worked as a research assistant and lecturer in the teaching and research clusters »Global Governance« and »Global Environmental Politics« at the American University in the USA from 2013 to 2017; and as a social policy advisor at the Sozialverband Deutschland in Lower Saxony from 2019 to 2021.

Anne J. Kantel holds a Bachelor of Arts in governance and public policy from the University of Passau and master's degrees in political science from the Free University of Berlin and in international affairs from the American University. In 2019, she successfully completed her PhD in International Relations on » processes of (de-)legitimisation of fisheries and land politics in Uganda« at the School of International Service at the American University in Washington, D.C.
