How to jump start industry decarbonization in the wake of the corona crisis

The coronavirus continues to drastically change the basic conditions for economic and social life throughout the world. Whereas long-term effects remain uncertain, the crisis and the response to the crisis will have implications for the energy intensive industries which strive to transition towards net-zero emissions in line with the Paris Agreement. This workshop aims to strengthen the collaboration between experts on industrial decarbonization during these trying times and offers you an interactive platform where potential solutions can be identified, challenged and refined.

The webinar will have two parts:

The first part (9.00 - 10.30) features a high-level discussion between distinguished panelists, who will present their take on the challenges and opportunities that these industries are currently facing.

The webinar will be moderated by Dr. Marlene Arens (Fraunhofer ISI and Lund University) and Prof. Dr. Stefan Lechtenböhmer (Wuppertal Institute and Lund University). Panelists: Peter Handley (European Commission), Kathleen Gaffney (International Energy Agency), and speaker describing current efforts to bridge local and global transitions (tbc).

The second part (10.30 - 12.00) will give you the opportunity to take part in brainstorming sessions and actively network with other experts in the field. Participants will interchange ideas on current topics in various thematic breakout rooms covering both technological, economic and policy aspects of industrial decarbonization
