BEWEGT: Accompanying research for the funding priority "energy transition and society" within the Energy Research Programme; subproject: Synthesis and foresight & overall project leadership

BEWEGT is the accompanying research and coordination project for the area of Energy Transition and Society within the 8th Energy Research Programme of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany (BMWE), and focuses on attractive and innovative approaches for networking, synthesis, and transfer in this research field. In doing so, BEWEGT pursues a systemic perspective that integrates technological and social aspects. It links mission-oriented innovation policy with foresight methods to identify relevant future topics in a participatory manner.

New formats for knowledge exchange connect the accompanied projects and support the transfer of their findings. Collaboration takes place in various spaces, such as meeting and working spaces, to harness synergies between the various research projects. Workshops and interactive formats, based on an analysis of needs, support the co-creation of relevant stakeholders and foster innovative approaches. In this way, evidence-based results are consolidated, methodological exchange is organised, and policy recommendations for the learning energy research programme and beyond are developed.

BEWEGT is structured into four work packages: coordination and networking, synthesis and foresight, transfer and communication, and project management.

BEWEGT pursues two strategic objectives:

First, the accompanied research projects are to be brought into exchange with one another and their visibility to be strengthened.

Second, the aim is to increase the impact of these research projects and their findings in politics and society.

Thereby, BEWEGT aspires to make a substantial contribution to accelerating the energy transition.

  • synthesis
  • co-creation
  • foresight

BEWEGT primarily aims at scientific and societal applicability: On the one hand, the research focus is on the area of energy transition and society, which addresses the prerequisites and challenges of sustainability transitions such as the German Energiewende in general. On the other hand, scientific and societal (and thus also political) applicability constitute central preconditions for economic applicability, through their contribution to a successful and accelerated energy transition. Our main written outputs are therefore policy briefs – the so-called BEWEGT Impulse.
