Project

AI and Digital Transformation in the Workplace – TA Foresight Monitoring Phase II

As part of the research assignment for the Vienna Chamber of Labour (AK-Wien), a structured foresight process on the future of the world of work will be carried out in the second phase of the project. The aim is to build on the research results of the previous horizon scanning and sensemaking of project phase I to analyse key technological and social developments in the context of artificial intelligence and digital transformation in the workplace and to develop options for action for the responsible use of digital technologies.

The world of work is caught between a variety of economic, technological and social demands. Against this backdrop, the project is developing scenarios that highlight the possible effects of AI and digital tools on industries and co-determination. The process is based on participatory scenario analysis and is scientifically supported, designed and moderated by Fraunhofer ISI under the direction of Martin J. Kirstgen. The results serve as a basis for strategic recommendations and technology-related advice for co-determination actors.

The second phase of the project involves expanding on the technology assessment report, conducting scenario workshops and deriving robust strategic options for action. The results will be developed in close cooperation with experts and stakeholders from the Vienna Chamber of Labour and prepared in transfer formats. The project thus makes an important contribution to shaping a sustainable and socially responsible world of work.
