Dr. Tobias Fleiter

Dr Tobias Fleiter has headed what is today the Climate-Neutral Industry Business Unit at Fraunhofer ISI since 2012. For more than 15 years, he has supported ministries, public authorities, the European Commission, and companies in developing strategies for a climate-neutral and competitive industry. He also coordinates the System Analysis dimension within the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence CINES.

His work combines technological innovation with energy infrastructure planning, energy system analysis, and energy and climate policy. His research and advisory activities focus on the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries, the electrification of industrial processes, the use of hydrogen, and the development of transition pathways for industry and energy systems. He follows an integrated approach that brings together technological, economic, and regulatory perspectives.

Tobias Fleiter has extensive experience in leading international research and advisory projects. He supports decision-makers in developing robust strategies for industrial transformation and the transition to climate neutrality.

After studying Industrial Engineering and Management with a focus on Energy and Environmental Management at the University of Flensburg, he completed his PhD at Utrecht University in 2012 on energy efficiency in companies.
