Project

WiSE - Scientific synthesis for the energy transition in buildings, neighbourhoods and heating networks

The WiSE scientific synthesis project supports the accompanying research of the research initiative Energy Transition Building by promoting innovative, sustainable building and energy concepts through interdisciplinary data analysis and technical expertise. The project bundles and evaluates findings from ongoing research projects within the Energy Transition Building Initiative and embeds these insights into national and international contexts. Three Fraunhofer Institutes (IBP, ISE, ISI) identify synergies and develop actionable recommendations for policymakers and practitioners.

WiSE serves as a scientific synthesis project that provides technical support and in-depth analysis for the accompanying research on the Energy Transition Building Initiative coordinated by Project Management Jülich. Through systematic cross-evaluations and analyses of funded research projects , knowledge is systematically structured and embedded within the broader context of current energy policy debates. The project thus contributes to the continuous development of the «learning» energy research program and delivers evidence-based foundations for political decision-making regarding the transformation of buildings, neighbourhoods, and heating networks.

WiSE's main task is to scientifically evaluate and synthesise findings from research projects within the Energy Transition Building Initiative. This includes identifying synergies, developing practical action recommendations, and supporting the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and Project Management Jülich in designing and implementing knowledge transfer activities. Beyond contributing content to conferences, kick-off meetings, and project events, WiSE responds to targeted political inquiries and actively participates in further developing the funding program.
