Project

Scientific support within the future EU framework and target architecture for renewable energy by 2040

Scientific support for the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) in shaping the EU energy policy framework and target architecture for renewable energy beyond 2030, including support for negotiations in the Council, with the European Parliament, and the European Commission.

The EU Member States have set themselves the common goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. One piece of the puzzle that is still missing on the path to becoming the first climate-neutral continent is a climate target for 2040 and the associated framework for renewable energies.

The objective of the project is to provide scientific support in the context of discussions and negotiations on the energy policy framework beyond 2030. A particular focus is placed on technical and analytical support, substantive positioning, and the conduct of negotiations in the Council as well as with the European Parliament and the European Commission (the so-called trilogue).

Scientific support will be provided through tailor-made qualitative and quantitative analyses.
