Dr. Murat Karaboga held the keynote at the symposium “Fabricating the truth” on October 24, 2025, at the ZKM (Center for Art and Media) in Karlsruhe.
His presentation outlined the current state of deepfake technologies, explained the challenges they present, and finished by presenting current regulations. He focused especially on measures that will be needed in the future to deal with deepfakes, including improving the information available on who is affected by deepfakes and to what extent, and whether existing laws and other measures ensure effective protection. He was also one of the panelists discussing the topic of “Aufklärung im Zeitalter der Künstlichen Intelligenz” (“Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”).
