Malgorzata Thonagel

Researcher

Malgorzata Thonagel has been a research scientist in the “Crowd Innovation” unit since May 2019. She joined the group at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig. Since January 1, 2025, the group has been part of Fraunhofer ISI at the Leipzig location.

Her work focuses on crowdfunding and crowdsourcing, combining academic research with the development, implementation, and coordination of practical innovation and participation formats. Over the past several years, she has contributed to a range of projects exploring the potential of crowd-based approaches for innovation and knowledge transfer.

Prior to joining Fraunhofer, she studied Linguistics and Economics at Leipzig University and at the University of Seville (Spain). During her studies and early career, she gained practical experience as a research assistant at Leipzig University and as a project staff member and research assistant at Fraunhofer IMW.

She further expanded her expertise in finance and strategic communication while working as an Investor Relations Manager at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG.
