Assessment of the Humboldt Research Hubs in Africa

As part of its Alumni support, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH) funds six so-called Humboldt Research Hubs in Africa. The program enables Alumni of the AvH in scientific leadership positions to do conduct long-term research endeavours with high relevance for society’s resilience regarding future crisis. Fraunhofer ISI has been commissioned with the assessment of the six Humboldt Research Hubs. The results of the assessment will help the AvH in its decision about the continuing funding of the hubs.

The goal of the assessment is a critical analysis of the Humboldt Research Hubs in Africa with regard to the achievement of the funding goals in the third year of funding. The funding goas are the basis of a logic chart consisting of activities, outputs, outcomes, and impacts.

  • Interviews with the heads of the Humboldt Research hubs, the cooperation partners in Germany and Africa, and management of scientific institutes, where the hubs are located
