Barbara Ferrarese studied Political Science, Italian, French and English Literary Studies at the University of Heidelberg (M.A.), the Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier and the University of Leicester. She wrote her master’s thesis in 1997 on technology policy in Italy – governance potential and impact on technological innovation. After several career moves in the fields of management consultancy, journalism and corporate communications in Brussels, Milan and Frankfurt am Main, she has been responsible for science communication at 'Platform Privacy', funded by the BMFTR, since 2017. Her work focuses on communicating research findings on data protection, privacy and artificial intelligence in Germany and Brussels and developing various dialogue and networking formats designed to promote European discourse on technological sovereignty, competitiveness and innovation.
