Sven Altvater studied mechanical engineering and, after graduating as a certified engineer, spent more than 20 years in industrial product development in various roles. Most recently, he was responsible for international design-to-cost projects and had previously headed the testing center at the European development site of the Japanese IHI Corporation in Heidelberg. His work included, among other things, charging systems for fuel cells and high-temperature electrolyzers. Sven Altvater has been working as a researcher and project manager in the Department of emerging Technologies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe since May 2025. His work focuses on the analysis of emerging technologies and markets in the field of hydrogen.
