Lukas Lesmeister

Researcher

Lukas Lesmeister studied Water Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen and subsequently completed a Master's degree in Biology with a focus on transnational, ecosystem-based water management at Radboud University Nijmegen and the University of Duisburg-Essen. Since 2022, he has been a doctoral candidate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, researching innovative processes for the removal of PFAS in drinking water treatment. Professionally, he worked as a research associate at the Water Technology Centre (TZW) in Karlsruhe from 2018 to 2025, initially in the field of water chemistry and later in water treatment. There, his focus was on investigating and evaluating processes for the removal of organic micropollutants, particularly PFAS. Since May 2025, he has been working at Fraunhofer ISI in the Water Resources Management business unit, where he is engaged in projects on reducing micropollutant inputs and on blue-green infrastructure.
