Markus Kraft studied Computer Science (Dipl.-Inform.) at the University of Karlsruhe (TH) from 1991 to 2002, majoring in Parallel Processing and Telematics.

From 2002 to 2016, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Economic Policy Research (IWW), Section Transport and Communication, later the Institute of Economics (ECON), Chair of Network Economics at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), which later became the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

From 2016 to 2019, he was employed as a research assistant at MKmetric GmbH.

Since October 2019, research associate in the Competence Center Innovation and Knowledge Economy at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe.
