Studied at the RWTH Aachen (Masters in Economic Geography) and the University Hagen/RWTH Aachen (Master of Business Economics and Master of Economics). Main fields of study included economic spatial analysis, the promotion of economic development, production management and the labor market. PhD at RWTH Aachen in the field of economic spatial analysis with geographic information systems and complex, multivariate, statistical methods as well as analysis of old industrial regions in Germany, Poland and the US. In this context, also spent time as a visiting scholar at the University of Pittsburgh.  At the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since January 2012 as a scientific researcher in the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets. Since 2016 Professor for Renewable Energy Economics at the University for Applied Sciences of Bingen.
