A wide range of projects

Our six Competence Centers encompass different areas of research with a wide range of interesting projects: Energy Policy and Energy Markets, Energy Technology and Energy Systems, Foresight, Sustainability and Infrastructure Systems, Emerging Technologies and Policy – Industry – Innovation.

Freedom of research

Numerous sport and health-related services are offered because we care about the well-being of the people who work for and with us. We have reserved places for the children of employees in two nearby day care centers. We also offer help with child care arrangements during the school holidays and emergency child care.

Application guide

The Fraunhofer ISI offers many career opportunities for students, graduates and professionals. We have a technically well-equipped infrastructure, a friendly working environment and flat hierarchies.

Your application is the first impression our Competence Centers will have of you. We therefore recommend that you prepare your application in such a way that it fits your personal profile. A carefully prepared and clear application increases the chances that we will notice you. Applications only via our online portal please.

Letter of application
In the letter of application you should tell us which position at the Fraunhofer ISI you are applying for (please always state the reference number) and which areas of our work you are particularly interested in. Your letter of application should convince us of your qualifications and motivation that you want to work at our institute. Your letter of application should make a connection between your experience to date and the requirements stated in our job advertisement. If possible, your letter should not be longer than one A4 page.

Résumé
Your résumé should be clearly structured and contain information about your person, training, job experience, knowledge and abilities (language and PC skills or other additional qualifications).

References
Applicants for an internship, a diploma, bachelor and/or master thesis or a job as a student assistant need to submit school leaving certificates, current overview of grades, pre-graduation certificate, internship certificates and a list of obtained ETCS points. If you are a graduate/young professional or already have job experience please include all your certificates and references.

Selection process
When you apply to us we will send you a letter confirming the receipt of your application. Your application will now be processed and sent to the relevant Competence Center. We try to give you feedback on the progress of your application as quickly as possible. Please understand that we only process and send our Competence Centers complete applications. In compliance with our data protection regulations we will store your personal data only internally and treat it as confidential.

FAQ

Are the job advertisements always up to date?
The job advertisements on our homepage are up to date. If there is currently no job advertisement online that is suitable for you, use our subscription service (in German) and you will regularly receive current job advertisements.

What does TVöD mean?
TVöD is the collective agreement for the public sector. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft complies with this agreement regarding employment, renumeration and social benefits. You can find further information about the TVöD (in German) via the following link.

Scientists

The Fraunhofer ISI offers scientists challenging work with responsibility and room for creativity. You will work in our interdisciplinary teams at the interface of technology and society and on interesting projects by national and international clients. Scientists who have completed their doctorate can become project leaders. 

We also support scientists who wish to obtain their doctorate. The dissertations completed at the Fraunhofer ISI are closely integrated into the strategies of the relevant Competence Center as we realize that this in-depth discussion has a positive impact on the academic quality of the Fraunhofer ISI and is proof of our scientific credibility.

Administration

The administration provides services for all the staff at the Fraunhofer ISI. This includes our team and project assistants, Human Resources, the press and communication office and controlling. We can also offer you interesting career opportunities in the travel department, the library, the purchasing department, IT, at reception and in the canteen. The Fraunhofer ISI provides training for the commercial profession ‚officer manager‘ and offers an optimal start to a professional career.

Your future place of work is well connected and organized. You will welcome visitors and deal with colleagues and external partners, either face-to-face or on the telephone. As an assistant you will co-ordinate appointments, prepare meetings and take care of correspondence. You will also gain insights into many other interesting areas of the institute such as Human Resources and controlling.
