Scientific Officer to the Executive Director
Edgar Salas Gironés joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI as a Post-Doc in January 2020. His work at the institute focuses on new modes of governance and public policies for transformative innovation and system transformation.
Before his current appointment, he pursued a Ph.D. in Innovation Governance and an M.Sc. in Innovation Sciences at Eindhoven University of Technology. He studied International Relations at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and did an undergraduate exchange program in Political Science at the University of California, Riverside.
Edgar's main research interests are the emerging roles of state actors in transformative innovation, new policy instruments for socio-technical change, and the governance and policy processes of STI.
