Dr. Esther Bollhöfer studied business administration and law at the universities of Augsburg and Mannheim. After obtaining her master's degree in business administration and some years of work experience in the field of industry and international IT-project management she completed her law studies successfully with the First State Examination (1. Juristisches Staatsexamen). Meanwhile she joined Fraunhofer ISI from 2000-2005 as a scientific assistant and returned to Fraunhofer ISI in 2008 after passing her Second State Examination (2. Juristisches Staatsexamen) at the Landgericht Karlsruhe (Germany). She earned her doctorate with Professor Dr. iur. Thomas Dreier at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) with an interdisciplinary dissertation on protection of know-how and sensitive production data for small and medium enterprises.
From 2008 until 2015 she worked as a senior researcher at Fraunhofer ISI, Competence Center Industrial and Service Innovations, since June 2015 Competence Center Emerging Technologies.
