Heike Aichinger studied biotechnology at the Technical University of Berlin and at the Ecole Supérieure de Biotechnologie Strasbourg (France). In 2005, she graduated from the Universities of Strasbourg, Basel, Freiburg and Karlsruhe with the trinational degree "Diplom-Biotechnologin/Diplôme d'ingénieur en biotechnologie" and the "Diplôme d'études approfondies en biologie cellulaire et moléculaire" (M.Sc. Molecular and Cell Biology) from the University of Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg. During her studies, she completed various internships in research and industry, including Schering Pharma A.G. (Berlin), The Danish Cancer Society (Copenhagen, Denmark), Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (London, Ontario, Canada). Subsequently, she worked until 2010 as a research assistant at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) at the Department of Biology with a focus on biochemistry and molecular biology and received her doctorate (Dr. Sc. ETH) at the ETH Zurich in 2010. Since 2010 Heike Aichinger been working as a project manager at the Competence Center New Technologies at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI.
