Seit 2008 Leiter des Geschäftsfelds Innovationsindikatoren und stellvertretender Leiter des Competence Center Politik und Regionen. Rainer Frietsch ist Visiting Professor am Institute of Policy and Management der Chinesischen Akademie der Wissenschaften in Peking.
