Dr. Anne Held

Coordinator of Business Unit Renewable Energies

Anne Held has been a senior researcher and project manager in the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since April 2013. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre Institute for Prospective and Technological Studies IPTS from 2011 to 2013 with a focus on energy system modelling and as a scientist at Fraunhofer ISI from 2005 to 2011. She studied at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the University of Seville, Escuela Superior de Ingenieros (Spain). She holds a M.Sc. degree (Diplom) in industrial engineering and management from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and a doctoral degree in Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) with the topic “Modelling the future development of renewable energy technologies in the European electricity sector using agent-based simulation” completed at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in 2010. Since 2014, she has been a lecturer at the Karlshochschule International University, Karlsruhe. Since 2019 Anne Held is Coordinator of Business Unit Renewable Energies.  

Anne Held has been coordinating and participating in numerous national and international research projects on renewable energy policy and energy system modelling for the European Commission and the German government. Results of her work have contributed to discussions on the development of energy policy at EU and national level, including the 2030 framework for climate and energy policies. Backed by more than ten years of experience in the field of energy policy design and evaluation as well as energy modelling, she has excellent knowledge on the economic, technological and social dimensions of the energy transition.
